Own Less – Do Less – Be Happy

“Even Socrates, who lived a very frugal and simple life, loved to go to the market. When his students asked about this, he replied, “I love to go and see all the things I am happy without.”

– Jack Kornfield

How do I manage my ADHD? I have less to manage.

Here’s what it gives me: less stress, more fun, less shit to worry about, more time to play, less stuff to mess up (dishes, clothes, commitments), and allows me to see that I’m in “suffering” when I keep craving for that next “perfect” thing. Yikes!

Why not take on less instead of more? What’s this issue we have with MORE? It doesn’t seem to work: more house, more stuff, more commitments; in fact it backfires against us as we try to keep it all together.

One day, years ago, I had the image of RAISING THE BAR, meaning make it easier for me to meet my needs, pursue my work needs, and schedule stuff in my day. Wow, what an awakening.
