A fancy way of saying: What do you keep putting off? What habit would you like to build that (for whatever reason) you’re just not getting to? More down time? A different job? Or something in between?

For me I practice what I preach: I use little check off lists that allow me to track my daily habits: meditation, light exercise, a gratitude practice – to name a few. I set my bank account to save automatically, and as hokey as it sounds it’s these little chips, these little bits that have built into larger successes.

We live in a culture of Win The Lottery! Instant Success! Get Rich Now! But those are just the pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Author Jeff Olson in The Slight Edge points out that if we had a massive heart attack every time we ate a cheeseburger we’d stop … but what about 1,040 cheeseburgers? (that’s 52 weeks x 20 years) That’s his point: we can compound what we want to build but we have to start … TODAY.
