Someone that Anne Lamott quotes, a Jesuit Priest I used to know, would say, “Left Foot, Right Foot, Breathe.” Kind of the mini version of “Just for Today.”
 
From the land of 12 step philosophy also comes just “doing the next right thing” … this one often get’s me through the present moment (when my brain is smacking me upside my head, from the inside, and it’s an ugly shit show thought attack party).
 
Here’s my point: the secret to coaching (yourself) is to find the next right thing and DO it. For me it was literally lying in bed for a while after I woke up, this moment it’s hoping my share will assist you, next it’s COFFEE!
 
Don’t wait for a miracle to happen, MAKE it happen; maybe today’s miracle is just making coffee, looking out the window, and picking the next right thing to do.
